Wat Tampa

It is always fun to go home and explore new places. This past weekend when I visited family and friends we made a long awaited trip to the Thai Temple for the Sunday market.

This open air market is run by Thai and American volunteers who make authentic fresh Thai food and all of the proceeds go towards the temple and Buddhist charities. While the market started in the late 80s it has really come into itself and grown in the last 5 years. I have always loved Thai food because so much of it is gluten free and this market was no different. They have signs with all the food as well so you can see exactly what is used.

They have a temple cat and dog. Lilly could not resist petting the cat who was very friendly. She  and I shared spring rolls, pumpkin curry, chicken salad, papaya salad, and some sweet rice dishes that I have not had before but were fun to try. There were too many options!

They also had a small farmers market with produce like lychee, cucumbers, and persimmons as well as tons and tons of orchids.

The temple photo is blurry because even though they don’t say not to take photos, and it is very tourist friendly, I always feel weird taking photos in places like this so i just barely snapped it on the way out!

Thailand is very much on my list of places to visit but for now this will have to do!

Ps – if you make a trek here, don’t forget your bug spray!
