Wanderlust Wednesday – Antelope Canyon

antelop3

Last week I posted pictures from our time to Horseshoe Bend in Page, Az. The main reason for that trip was to  finally go to Antelope Canyon, a 5 hour trip from Vegas. Antelope Canyon  is actually an upper and lower set of slot canyons formed by erosion of Navajo Sandstone, primarily due to flash flooding. The best time of year to visit the canyons is April – October to see the famous sun beams shining through but since we never know what we will be up to, we decided to use a weekend in February. When in season, Upper Canyon is the most popular because there are less stairs and there are more sunbeams, but in the off months I actually think the Lower Canyon is more impressive. All trips are through the tour companies as people cannot go alone. They do have a photographers tour that would be nice but each person has to have a DSLR camera so it was either the husband or the camera. I chose the husband (and the camera too technically). I took a hundred or so pictures but I won’t bore you with all of them!

I am obsessed with the movement in all of these pictures. I definitely recommend you making a stop here if you are ever around!
