The Uniform I Can’t Stop Wearing this Fall

The Uniform I Can’t Stop Wearing this Fall

Fall is such a fun fashion season because the weather gives you’re the broadest options for clothes. The weather is just so comfortable, that the fashion follows suit – not too hot to be minimal or wear skintight summer clothes and not too cold to be so covered in layers that no one knows what’s underneath. Fall weather lends itself to everything from sandals to boots, skirts to corduroys, t-shirts to sweaters, and everything in between. With all of those options, it can almost seem overwhelming figuring out what to wear when almost everything is a possibility!

This year I have found myself wearing updated & remixed versions of the same silhouette non-stop. I accidentally discovered my “Fall Uniform” and I keep going back. Here are the only 3 pieces you need to get in on this cozy fall look

  1. Leggings
No longer only for gym or athleisure and far more updated than the “jeggings” of my high-school days, todays leggings are just as thick, sturdy, and opaque as pants — except far more comfortable. They come in every color, to include a super popular faux-leather one. I love the high-wasited SPANX leggings and grab myself a pair every-time I can catch them on sale because they are so well made and I know I’m not going to have any incidents of walking into the sunlight and my leggings looking more like tights.

  2. Tunic Tops
Pairing a crop-top with leggings makes it feel athleisure to me, but pairing them with a longer top (ie “tunic”) that covers your bum (or at least your waist) helps keep the look elevated. I have paired them with high-low sweaters, soft long-sleeve tops, and collared tunics depending on where I am going. You could easily pair them with a classic t-shirt and an over-sized blazer for an even more buttoned-up look — especially if you’re rocking the faux-leather leggings! The key is to adding length or volume on top to balance the tight bottom. As we go into holiday season, we all tend to eat and drink a bit more than the rest of the year…besides being fashionable, this combination is also extremely forgiving — no one will ever know you went back for thirds.

  3. Tall Boots
Nothing screams Fall like boots and other than a stiletto, nothing is going to keep the look elevated like a good knee to thigh-high boot. Sandals and tennies keep it casual – fantastic if you’re pairing a pullover or hoodie with your leggings, but boots keep it date night & girls night. Boots these days are SO comfortable that you can rock them all day without your feet hurting plus the extra layer of protection keeps your legs warmer when the temperature drops!

If I put all my other “bottoms” in my closet away and only had leggings, I could come up with looks for almost every occasion in life by adjusting the top and shoes. (I’m still not going to, so please don’t give my husband any ideas).
