I have said before that a hotel stay has the power to make or break a trip. Sometimes the hotels we choose to stay in are the vacation themselves. For a recent stay in Denver, this was the case for us. We were in town for a wedding but came in one night early to just relax. Having lived in Colorado for 4 years, I could fill up every day with things to do and see but we really didn’t feel like touristing and so I chose the ART, a Hotel in Denver as our perfect staycation.
The ART is a blend of luxury, hospitality, and well, art! You walk in the first floor into what feels almost like a minimalistic gallery with the halls lined with art and not much else. In fact, you have to take the elevator up to the 4th floor just to check in!
Even the check-in area is sleek. The receptionist even told us how many people will walk past them, expecting a much larger and clunkier desk than they have. This “lobby” opens up to the rooftop bar and restaurant as well as a candy bar around the corner.
Thanks to booking through AmEx Travel and their Fine Hotels and Resorts program, we had a free room upgrade, breakfast for two, and a $100 food/beverage credit. Our room was amazing, the “Museum View Suite” which had a perfect view of the city and of course, the Denver Art Museum as well as complimentary snacks, sodas, and delicious Illy coffee & espresso! The bedroom was separate from the living and bathroom and no rooms lacked windows or natural light, it was amazing. My favorite piece may have been the bathtub though, it was so modern and sleek!
The hotel is in the “civic center” area of Denver, by the museums and library but still a short, easy walk from the 16th street mall and everything else in downtown. The civic center park is just two blocks away and is packed with food trucks for lunch, which is one of my favorite ways to grab food! After that, just another block or so and you are in the heart of downtown!
The weather was absolutely gorgeous so we chose to sit outside for dinner at the hotel’s rooftop bar/restaurant Fire. They had a live DJ as well as a really unique fireplace that really added to the warm, vibrant atmosphere. We had the trout and ribeye at the recommendation of the waitress washed down with their delicious twists on margaritas and martinis.
If you are looking for a fresh new stay in Denver, I cannot recommend this hotel enough! We loved our stay and were sad to leave!
