When it comes to hair, I am insanely low maintenance. Seriously. I wash my hair once a week (Fridays), use dry shampoo in between, I don’t own a hair dryer, and even brushing sometimes feels like too much of an effort! My hair stylist loves me for it because my hair is so much healthier as a result but even a lazy girl likes to do her hair every now and then so a little “hair jewelry” has become my go-to!
I am a huge fan of braids (an easy way to hide a bit of oil after a few days) and I do own about 5 curling wands, that get used about 1-2 times every other month, but I needed something else fun for my hair that required minimal effort. Headbands are one easy way but they don’t always “match” with an outfits “vibe.” Instead, I have found that hair jewelry adds a level of elegance and whimsy to otherwise simple strands. These simple gold (or silver, or black, etc) chains add just enough interest to hair down, in a bun, or in a pony to distract from the lack of actual effort! I love it. It’s like when you add earrings to an outfit — don’t you just feel 100 times more put together? (I do.)
They can be a bit slippery so sometimes I will tuck them under the back of my hair or hold them in with a bobby pin or two but other wise you are free to go! Change your mind 1/2 way through the night and want to take it off? You can – with no evidence (i.e. kinks or marks) in your hair!
Want to try some for yourself? Here are a few fun options (and so many are under $10 with one SPLURGE added!)
