Hallo.
So today started rainy and cold…and it didn’t get any better which sucks.we woke up late and grabbed our rain jackets and headed to the bus to go to the Harley davidson store so dad could buy a shirt.it was in east Munich and we are normally in west Munich and the scenery in combination with the gray weather was not super exciting. After that we wanted to get food since we missed breakfast and so we went to the central train station to get some food where we could understand what we were ordering and also so it would be cheaper. Dad got s currywurst and fries and I got a couple sushi rolls. Then to the Starbucks for some wifi and a chai latte to warm up. I got a yogurt with muesli and a blood orange juice too. They don’t have those at American Starbucks.
From there we headed to the haus der Kunst which is an art museum that hitler built in the 1930s for all the ideal German art. After they lost the war it was re modeled in what was called “un-nazifying” of Germany and Munich but then later they tried to take it back to it’s original design. We actually went there on our tour of Munich because the ceilings outside in the back of the museum have swastika type designs on them. This is the only place I have seen hitler’s name any where in Munich.
The two shows we saw were Matt Mullican and Future Beauty….yah…not too great. First, the Matt mulligan exhibit made me feel like I was surrounded in 40years of kindergarten art. Except it was 40years of one mans art. No, not art. Scribbling, writing grocery lists, taking pictures of toilets, making up symbols for words. It was absolutely ridiculous and I think I just got dumber. There was a video showing of a tub filling with water and draining. Then filling and draining. Now, I think that I am very open minded about art but this was just stupid. Really a waste of time and brain power .
Next exhibit was future beauty…a Japanese exhibit…of clothing. There were tvs of fashion shows everywhere and then a super long hallway of very weird outfits. It was all explained in detail in both German and Japanese. So I can’t really tell you much about it. Some clothes were cool…some looked like tissue paper and bubble wrap. All the same, it was better than the first exhibit.
Then we just decided to head back to the hotel because the weather was even colder and more rain. Boo. We stopped in the galeria store in the station and bought some candy. It’s kind of like a department store and a walgreens in one I think…idk. Got another mozartkugel though. And some yummy gummies.
Now just hanging out at the hotel.
