Finding hotels in Europe can be tricky. The rooms are small, they never have parking, AC and WiFi may be questionable, and half the reviews are in a language you don’t read. When you’re trying to find one room for 3 people, your difficulties increase 10x fold. On a recent trip where we were looking for such a room I seriously lucked out in finding Number 11 Guesthouse in Brugge, Belgium.
There are only 4 rooms (3 rooms, 1 suite) in this fabulous B&B that was brought to fame in the movie In Bruges. The room we stayed in (Room number 2) had a large bed downstairs and a small loft with just room for a single twin. It was a really cute room and the B&B has such a great location in Brugge that you can’t beat it. There is no central AC but they did provide a nice fan that did the trick.
Room Number 2 (Grey-White Room)
I was able to pop into one of the other rooms to get a look and I have to say, as far as European rooms go, these are huge. You have a ton of space in the room as well as a really nice bathroom with bath tub and shower options. The rooms even have closets which you NEVER find in a European hotel.
Room Number 3 (Chocolate Room)
The rest of the B&B is just as adorable. Just so comfortable and homey. I love all of the wood details in this home, you would never know it was a couple centuries old! You would never know from the outside how much space there really is here!
The managers were so amazing. They make you breakfast every day with eggs cooked however you prefer, waffles, croissants, meat, cheese, fresh fruit and fresh squeezed juice. We were able to get maps and wonderful suggestions on where to go for the day. They were so kind that we even got a tour of the rest of the property that is private and used for social events etc.
This upstairs loft/office is not a room you can rent but it is where scenes from the movie In Bruges were filmed! We had no idea the movie was filmed here until AFTER we arrived, so we watched the movie after the stay and got a kick out of recognizing all of the places in the movie and especially this room!It was really a perfect place to stay, I cannot say enough good things. The manager even introduced us to the next door neighbor whose husband was a local artist so we could go see some of his work! Then just a few steps to views like this.
Brugge is definitely one of my favorite cities in Belgium, far above Brussels. If you are in the area I hope you get a chance to visit and stay at this adorable Guesthouse!
