Hallo from Munich!
I arrived at 10am Munich time today and my dad at 11. After navigating our way out of the airport and trying to figure out how to buy a ticket with the help of a German who didn’t understand the system we made it to the train and then bus to get to our hotel. It is a very quaint cozy hotel in a residential type neighborhood. It would remind me of a bed and breakfast but it’s a bit bigger. Everyone is very friendly at the hotel though , and they even lent us the adaptor for our American plugs! I wasn’t so sure how people would be since my first encounter was the German woman behind me on the plane… I went to push my seat back to sleep on the 10hour flight or however long it is and she pushed back on my chair so hard and then proceededbto tap me on the shoulder saying I couldn’t put my chair back because it affected her room. I put my chair half way up but when i went to the bathroom ( that was downstairs ) I saw she had her feet up on the empty chair next to her, needless to say I was a little annoyed. When I got back to my seat I put my chair all the way back and again she pushed and told me I couldn’t do that. I told her that I paid for my seat and that I was going to use it and she could deal with it. She wasn’t happy but that was that ! Geez!
Today we went to a biergarten and had bratwurst with a ketchup curry sauce and spare ribs. Dad had a beer and I had sparkling water. I haven’t had meat since graduation! Then we went to some castle nefembaufen or something…I forgot, it was German with lots of letter. Pretty cool, incredible ceiling paintings… I love paintings, I could just lay on the floor and stare at the ceilings but I don’t think people in Germany would like that. It was such a gorgeous propertybwith a fountain and swans and so much lawn..there was even a wedding party there !
We then went to the Olympic stadium…there were sooo many people there because there was a Bon jovi concert about to start, a small German concert already going, and some sort of festival! We walked around and went to the schwimminhalle. Yup, the Olympic swimming center! Oh I love the familiar smell of the chlorinated water. Serious!
Everyone just sat on the grass with beer and wine and pizza or crepes etc. It was a gorgeous day, would have been perfect for a picnic.
Then we headed back to the hotel and had dinner outside at a lovely cafe down the street from us. I had rednfish on lentils and we had avacado and shrimp ceviche on salad for an appetizer. It was so good we forgot we should eat lettuce until it was already too late. Hopefully there was no ecoli lol…I’m sure we will be ok, the glass of wine probably killed it, right ?
Ok well night for me, I am already right on track for German time!
Bye!
