Whether it is National Margarita Day, Cinco de Mayo, or Thursday, it is always a good reason to make a delicious at home margarita! Personally I like to avoid margarita mix in favor of natural ingredients so that I can really taste all of the flavors. I’ve never had a “bad night” with tequila so I still think it tastes pretty great in all sorts of recipes!
I first made this recipe when we lived close to friends who would bring us lots of citrus from their fruit trees and so I wanted to use the fresh grapefruit to make these margaritas!
To make margaritas for 2, I used:
Juice of 1.5 grapefruit (I hand juiced)
Juice of 1 lime
3 shots of tequila
1 shot of triple sec
1 tsp honey (because I didn’t have agave)
Add ice and shake!!
I dipped the glasses in maple salt which is a more muted salt, and garnished with a lime wedge. Shai took one sip and asked if there was more! I have to agree, they were incredibly refreshing!
What is your favorite way to make a margarita? I am also a huge fan of the Corona-Rita!
