Daily Skincare Essentials

I absolutely love skincare products and am always trying out new items to fit into my daily routine. I can categorize everything into 0. Hydrate 1. Cleanse 2. Exfoliate 3. Soften 4. Moisturize 5. Anti-aging and 6. Prime

Hydrate doesn’t get its own real number because it is so essential. If you are not drinking enough water, none of the other steps will be able to make up for it! I try and drink at least 60 oz a day.

Cleanse

No matter how tired I am morning or night, I always wash my face, it is so routine that I don’t have to think about it. At night, I uses coconut oil to remove my makeup and cleanse my face. I take 1/2 a tsp in my hands and rub it into my face in a circular motion and then wipe everything off with a hot wet washcloth. For the morning, I want something less heavy so I use a refreshing foam cleanser like the tea-tree oil one from the Body Shop.

Exfoliate

Some nights I use my Clarisonic brush with the coconut oil to exfoliate my face while I wash it. Another scrub that I use it the trusty St Ives! Especially living in the desert, exfoliating is essential before applying makeup to ensure a smooth base.

Soften

Soften to me means a combination of masks and serums. I have a collection of masks from Valentia Hydrating Mask, Body Shop Tea Tree Mask, and a couple of Dead Sea masks I purchased in Israel that I rotate between depending on how my skin is behaving. I also use a collection of serums from Valentia Royal Rose Serum, Body Shop’s Vitamin C Skin Boost, Pomegranate Firming Serum, and Drops of Youth Serum! I love serums because they absorb so fast and add an extra boost beneath your lotions and creams

Moisturize

Even If I don’t wear makeup, I always use a lotion with a sunscreen in it. I have used Body Shop Vitamin C SPF 30 for almost 10 years but I also like to mix it up with the lighter feeling of Shiseido’s Benefiance . Skin cancer runs in my family and that is not something I want to mess around with so using lotion with SPF is essential.

Anti-Aging

Most of the above steps have a role in this one but I still have extra products that I use here to give everything a boost.  I like to alternate different eye creams so sometimes I will use Valentia True Glow Eye Cream, Estee Lauder Resilience Lift, or Body Shop Nutriganics Smoothing Night Cream

Prime

If I am wearing makeup, I always try and add a primer underneath my makeup. I wear Dior BB cream which has a bit of its own primer in it but it just isn’t quite the same. A primer really helps smooth everything out for a perfect base for makeup. It is such an easy step to skip but I promise once you get in the habit, you wont want to skip it anymore! If my face is particularly oily, I like to use Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Pore Minimizer because it is nice and mattifying. Laura Mercier Primer is one that I got with a bunch of samples a couple years ago but always go back to because it is so light and smooth on my skin. Sephora Afterglow Primer and Luminizer is fun if you are into strobing and highlighting because it gives your face a nice dewy glowy look which is perfect as we head into the spring and summer months!

Did I leave anything out? What are your go to steps?

Xx
