Burgundy & Blush (& why I love velvet pants)

burgundy and blush-9

On a recent Sunday Styles post I talked about the lasting power of Blush colored pieces. Here I am sharing one of my favorite colors to pair it with – Burgundy! I could wear this rich wine color from head to toe if asked but since it probably wouldn’t look so great, I like to break it up with pieces like this blush lace-up top.

These LC Lauren Conrad velvet pants (on sale at Kohls now) are so comfortable to wear and as you have seen in previous posts, my cape-blazers are just too much fun – they are like being a fashionista + superhero in one. Everywhere I looked in my closet I kept finding more accessories in this standout winter color. I snagged both my Kate Spade bag and Swarovski bracelets at the outlets in Vegas before we left – man do I miss those outlets!

Still not hooked on the idea of velvet pants? Here are my top 3 reasons why I love them.

  1. Elevate your look – velvet pants are a way to dress up without having to deal with the structure and pain in the ass creases of dress pants!
  2. Sneaky Subtlety – in dark colors, no one will even realize you are wearing velvet until they are next to you and by then they will be so interested in the unique look they may even ask to touch them haha. It’s not like you are rocking a velour tracksuit!
  3. Comfort – they may not look like a velour track suit but that doesn’t mean they don’t feel like one! I like to find as many ways to feel like I am wearing pajamas when I am out in public as possible and these are certainly one of those ways!
