I used to think Fall was my favorite season but after the weekly blossom-wine festivals and the flowering trees along our drive and neighborhood, I am starting to think Spring has moved to first place in my heart. Now that I have experienced some real Springs (Vegas and Florida don’t really have “Spring”), I realized that Spring fashion might just be my favorite too! Coming out of winter, it is so refreshing not to have to cover up all your cute looks in layers of scarves and coats!
As I pack away my winter-wear and plan for the future months, I have realized the utility and versatility of a cardigan as a Spring fashion staple.
Here are my top 3 reasons why your Spring staple should be a Cardigan.
1. It’s Classic
Cardigans are nothing new and they come back every season, which should say something for their lasting utility in the fashion lineup. If you invest in a solid quality piece, you can be assured you can use it for years without feeling (or looking) dated. You can leave them completely unbouttoned to show your look underneath or you can buttom them up as a preppy look of their own!
2. It’s Lightweight
This is key for me because of how much we travel. Cardigans are thin enough to easily slip in a purse or carryon and light enough to pack without weighing down the suitcase. They are an easy way to refresh an outfit without having to pack a ton of pieces!
3. It’s the Perfect Transition Piece
Not as thick as a sweater or coat, not as thin or breezy as a kimono, cardigans easily transition any piece when the temperature jumps around as it likes to do in Spring. Since it is lightweight (see #2) you can keep it in your bag during the day and bring it out when temps drop in the evening. They go with shorts, jeans, skirts, and even dresses without overwhelming the look or changing the vibe!
Honestly I wasn’t sold on cardigans before this year because living in Vegas I never really had a proper spring but after expereincing my second Spring in Europe, this will always be my recommended Spring staple!
