On holiday.

Hallo everyone!

So today was a German holiday. The owner of our hotel didn’t know what for, something catholic he said but it meant all the shops would be closed. No shopping on Sunday or Holliday . No problem we said. Unfortunately it also meant only certain trams and buses were working…minor problem. But we decided to get to know the public transportation a little better…

We spent the whole day in ” the old city ” downtown. We started the day in Starbucks because I really needed a water but we stopped to use the wifi too. It was nice and familiar. Then we tried to go to Marianenplatz to see this famous church and the new city building and we thought we had …until we really found it later! What a suprise that was lol. The real Marianenplatz was sooo cool, the architecture was gorgeous and there was so so much shopping but nothing was open so we just walked around and took it all in.

We went to the deutsches museum which is this huge six story science and culture museum. Everything that was ever made/invented by a german was there. There was every type of boat, plane, electric, machine, anything. There was a nanotechnology section and everything. We were pretty hungry though so we only made it there for a couple hours.

So then we took the next stop on the wrong tram to go to gastieg ..I’m still not sure what it was but we had lunch at a place called gast. It was like you get a card when u walk in and go to the pasta, rice, or salad section and order and they put it on your card and then you pay at the end in the front. I had chicken with vegetables with curry sauce with some rice. It was really good. I’m also loving all the sparkling water here.

After lunch we tried to get to the englischer garten and we got lost but then I figured out where we were and got us there . It was such an incredible park along the river…so lush and gorgeous with trees and the river and people juggling and playing music. It was HUGE. I would have loved to have had a picnic there. We found the biergarten in the gardens and dad had a beer and I had some ice cream and just enjoyed sitting…we really walked a lot! I hope the reebok easy tone shoes are doing their job!!

When we found our way out the garden we went to the national museum but it was closed…we will have to go back later this week.

For dinner we went to asada which was supposed to be argentian food but it seemed like a steak house to me. I had a baked potato with sour cream and smoked salmon. It was very good.

Tomorrow we are going to an even better castle that we have to take the train to.
