How to Vegas (For the Party Animal)

If there is one thing I have learned in my 4 years of living in Las Vegas is that there is something here for everyone. I will be doing a small series on “How to Vegas” for everyone from the club rat to the person who hates the Strip!

First up is the classic Vegas Party Animal

Where to Stay

If you are coming here to party, odds are you will rarely see the inside of your hotel room. Nonetheless, I would recommend you stay at the Cosmopolitan – mostly because a lot of my recommendations for this post are there and because it is central to the strip, making it an easy cab ride to wherever you need to be. If you are looking to spend a little less, check out Planet Hollywood or Paris!

Where to Eat

Breakfast/Brunch – Hash House A GO GO. Hash House is a classic and the perfect place to nurse your hangover. They don’t take reservations but you can snag a bloody mary while you wait for your table, and you will need that.

Dinner – STK is an amazing steakhouse with a sexy vibe that feels more and more like a club as the night goes on. If you’re in a rush or need some grease, check out the hidden pizza place in the Cosmo as well. The truth is, if you are coming to party, you probably care less about what you are eating so almost any casino restaurant will be just fine!

Where to Drink

Chandelier Bar. Chandelier Bar at Cosmopolitan is the perfect spot to start your night with a drink. Each floor has a different cocktail menu and the dripping crystals make for an excellent background for pictures.

Where to Party

In the spring/summer you will want to hit up the pools and pool parties (which is why I didn’t list lunch recommendations). Head to Encore Beach Club or Wet Republic for the classic Vegas experience that will not let you down. Once you recover from the pool, head to Omnia at Caesars or Marquee at Cosmopolitan and dance the night away. I avoid clubs without outdoor areas or decent sized dance floors so Hakasaan (no outdoor area) and Chateau (very small dance floor) are low on my list.

Where to Gamble

Planet Hollywood and New York New York are the more enjoyable places to gamble because the crowd is less uptight than the tables at Cosmo, Aria, or Wynn but they are also smaller than the mammoths of MGM and Caesars.

In a city known for catering to bachelor parties and birthday parties, this is the easiest way to do Vegas. Between clubs and eating, you wont have much time for anything else!

Stay tuned for future “How-To” posts for the rest of you who want to remember your trip and want to experience another side of Vegas!
