We weren’t 10 seconds into September before I started seeing all things pumpkin-spice on social media! Surprisingly they have been mostly from my Florida friends who have launched themselves full force into Fall whereas those in cooler climates (& me in Germany) are desperately holding on to our last moments of summer, digging our heels in before we end up in Fall on our way to Winter.
It reminds me of growing up and how 70 degrees was “cool” weather and a time to break out the hoodies. The thing about breaking out a hoodie in Florida though is that you are probably pairing it with shorts and flip-flops. This “fashion” is quintessential to the Florida girl because we want to feel part of the Fall festivities but we also don’t want to be sweating all day!
With cooler days in Germany recently I have had a few throwbacks to my earlier days but have been pairing more and more light sweaters (as opposed to hoodies) with shorts before I have to put my legs away for the next few months. It really is a comfortable style that feels a lot more practical than it may look to an outsider.
