‘Tis the season for lots of love and weddings which means figuring out what is appropriate to wear as a guest. I avoid any body-con style dresses or anything too revealing. A little leg and cleavage is fun, but you don’t want to look like you are going to the club. Spring weddings tend to be less formal and often outside so you have a wide range of options on what to wear from a flowy maxi skirt, to a structured skirt with a blouse, to almost any length deemed “work-place appropriate.” You want to be comfortable in both warm outdoor venues and colder inside receptions so it is always a great bet to bring a shrug or structured jacket on the side. If you still aren’t sure, just go but the rule that unless the invitation says “black tie” or “formal”, your best bet is to go with a knee-length cocktail dress, it is always appropriate.
I have a few Calvin Klein sheath dresses I have worn to weddings that I always gravitate back to but I recently wore a Diane von Furstenburg silk dress and was absolutely in love. DvF truly makes dresses that feel as good on you as they make you look. This dress was so soft and comfortable, it was amazing. I love the balance of long flowy sleeves on a shorter skirt and the lightweight material of this dress kept me comfortable for an indoor-outdoor venue. The dress can be worn with or without the small belt but I liked that it created a little more shape.
These blue pumps are always fun and I loved how perfectly they matched the dress. I may have snuck a little something extra in my purse too…
I mean…it matched right? So it counts as an accessory…
My hair was being a pain and I ran out of time so I just threw my hair into this super easy updo. If you do not own a bun donut I seriously suggest you get one ASAP. It is such an easy way to have an elegant looking hairstyle.
Dress (Similar). Shoes (Similar). Purse (Similar). Hair. Flask.
