Crafting a grown-up Halloween Tablescape

It is no secret that I love throwing dinner parties. Halloween is also my favorite holiday (which I am sure has nothing to do with its proximity to my birthday… 😛 ). With so many options out there, it can be hard to decorate for Halloween without getting caught up in a sea of corny decor. There are certainly some great uses for hanging paper bats and candy bowls that grab you but my goal was to create a simple tablescape that was simple yet clearly seasonal.

The most obvious piece of Halloween at the table was my tablecloth. It is heavy (read: not plastic) and all of the details are done in gold. My gold chargers are always on my table but I replaced the usual plates with gray ones instead. The black napkins with the crystal holders were an easy choice and tied in with the crystal candle holder.

I love the idea of apples or fruit for place cards. I didn’t want to put holes in these but a piece of paper with script under the apple or pinned into them is a perfect place setting for any Fall dinner. halloween tablescapehalloween tablescape

In an effort to keep cheesy decor to a minimum I covered the table with interesting gourds – creepy in their own nature. I wrapped the bowl of them with glowing branch lights for a little more visual interest.

The glowing skull head was the most obvious piece of Halloween next to the table cloth. Its gold pieced exterior tied it in perfectly with the table and added some visual interest as the colors kept changing.

And that is it! A simple way to have a “grown-up” Halloween tablscape with just a few pieces. I seriously wouldn’t mind keeping my table like this until January! halloween tablescapehalloween tablescapehalloween tablescapehalloween tablescapehalloween tablescape
