Cold Shoulder, Warm Arms

As far as I can tell, we are in our 2nd full year of the “cold shoulder” and “off shoulder” trend reigning and it has not showed signs of showing down. Hot stores and brands continue to reimagine the ways they can let us show a little skin in a previously unexpected way. However, as the temperatures drop, we may have could shoulders but we still want warm arms.

It’s actually a great idea because your arms and the more vascular areas like armpit, elbow, and wrist affect our overall body temperature more than our shoulders so we’re warmer in a long-sleeve off-shoulder top than we are in a 3/4-length top!

This cold shoulder top was one of my favorite “just-because” picks from the Nordstrom Sale. You know, those things you know you don’t need but you’re still sure you want (ok, that’s most things, but you know what I mean here).

The mustard yellow really pulled me in because it isnt a color you see a lot and I have always liked wearing different shades of yellow. I like that it has a little shoulder strap so that it isnt entirely off shoulder and so that if I want to throw a jacket on over it I don’t have to worry about the shirt getting pulled down or out of place. If mustard isn’t your color though, they have it in black as well! The material is actually pretty interesting too because its like a heavy satin yet it has some cool texture to it that keeps it from “sticking” to any weird areas like satin likes to do.

In general, with tops that have more flow & flounce to them, you want to pair them with tighter options on the bottom so you still have some shape. This top wouldn’t be the best option with a flowy skirt but it provides perfect balance to some skinny jeans and heels.
