Balloons, Kites, and yummy Bites!

Another weekend, another festival! Over the weekend was a hot-air balloon and kite festival in Europäischer Kulturpark Bliesbruck-Reinheim which is kind of like a large park with Roman Ruins in it. I’m finding there are lots of ancient Roman ruins in Europe besides Rome. haha.

The festival was packed with food vendors (like most) but when we first got there, there was not a balloon in site! There were a ton of kites but it seemed like only the biggest ones stayed up easily. There was a vendor to buy a kite too but I opted out.

They had some different “kites” and balloons set up all over the park which was fun to look at.

It is hard to eat vegetarian and gluten free, as I have mentioned so I ate most of the potatoes and a little ham from this dish as well as a “weinshorle” which is white wine with seltzer water in it – a refreshing way to drink and stay hydrated! We grabbed some cups of ice cream afterwards as well!

We thought that the balloons would sit on the ground for a bit for everyone to look at them and walk around but sadly as soon as we got our food to the table all the balloons just heated up and took off! It was a bit anti-climatic to be honest. Hopefully the other launches were more interesting but the only balloon I liked was the giant beer bottle!

Some people actually brought campers to the area and camped out all weekend which I think would be a really cool way to take it all in and relax.

This guy didn’t need to go on a hot air balloon ride…he just walked around with his own all day!
