26.

Thank you to everyone for all of the love yesterday for my birthday! I had a really nice day that i felt was “quintessentially me.” I woke up and skyped with the hubs for an hour which was nice. You see, since I was on the other side of the world for his birthday last year, he felt the need to be on the other side of the world for mine this year! I opened my gifts from my parents and then he sent me to find the gifts he hid for me! He got me a beautiful blue Michael Kors watch and purse. All on his own! They matched my birthday outfit perfectly!

I had a nice workout, then a 90 minute massage (that extra 30 min is free in your birthday month!) before lunch with a girlfriend. Then Sephora and Victoria’s Secret to redeem by birthday rewards! I love when store loyalty cards/memberships get you extra free stuff!

Then home with the pups before all you can eat sushi with another friend. Ironically enough, the 3 friends that asked to take me out to eat on my birthday were all my pregnant friends….I’m guessing they know I am the kind of date who will eat as much as they will even if I am only eating for myself!! nom nom

Birthdays have always been so important to me. It’s nice to have one day to feel really special or to make someone else feel really special but I also think it is the perfect time to reflect on what has happened in the last year – what has happened, what has changed, what you want to change in the future.

25 was a pretty huge year for me. I got married and gained another family, I took my first trip to Israel with Shai, I took an insane amount of other trips with Shai, I lost my grandma, my other grandma got really sick, I gained a wonderful new Savta (grandma) who even called me from Israel to wish me a happy birthday, my dad got married, I made some awesome new friends, I lost some friends, I continued my education past my masters by taking more and more classes for fun.

I am learning to let go of the things that don’t bring anything useful or positive to my life. I am working on being more patient. Sometimes, I am still trying to figure out what I want to do when I grow up if my current career doesn’t always fit me. I’m trying to figure out the direction I want to take this blog. I’m trying to figure out how to work out more, bake more, host parties more, and still sleep more. I’m kinda trying to figure out how to be a bit less messy.

26 is going to bring some more huge life changes when we move (who knows where…) in the next year but  it is going to be just as exciting as this last year because I have a wonderful partner in it and wonderful friends and family. I really do have such a beautiful life, it is important to take that time to reflect on that every now and then so I don’t take it for granted!

What can I say? Apparently I have always been a cake girl!

I ended the night with a glass of wine, the pups, and a face mask…because lets be honest, time to ramp up that anti-aging routine!!!
 Xx
